I am researching the Brittain Family. William Brittain b. 1774 in Surry Co. NC, married Rosanna Wright 15 May 1802 in Surry Co. Migrated to AK then on to Texas where he died 16 Sep 1850 in Shelby Co. Recently someone contacted me stating that his father was James Brittain and that William Martin Brittain was born in Rowan Co. NC. I am looking for this parentage and siblings. Bohannon I am searching for info on my gg grandfather, Hadley Bohannon, born c 1835 in NC. I do not know who his parents were, but there was a William and an Elliott Bohannon listed in the 1790 Surry County Census. Both of these men listed other males in their households. Could any of these be related to Hadley Bohannon. Hadley married a Martha Caroline Bedwell (Begwell?). Apparently at some time, this couple migrated to Kentucky because their daughter Elizabeth was born there. She married my great grandfather, James Franklin Maggard, Jr. Any help on this line is much appreciated.

SCOTT/MARTIN Seeking information about Isabella (Sarah) SCOTT who married John MARTIN. Their first son, born in NC c. 1779 was James Scott MARTIN. John and Isabella moved to Logan County, KY in approximately 1780 where they remained with their family until about 1817 when they traveled on to IL. Their other children included Jane, William Harvey, Samuel, Rezin Charles, James Frost, Euphamy, and Phillip W. MARTIN. Elias was in AR by age 17, alone. He moved on the KS after the Civil War. His dob is 28 Jul 1842, listed as Haystack P.O., Surry Co., NC in his Civil War papers. On the 1850 census at houshold #700 is also listed a, Samuel Brannock age 46 m Farmer Penelope 46 f Joseph 16 m laborer Mary 12 f Caswell 9 m Benjamine 4 m Celia 2 f Jefferson Brannock 7 m I believe Penelope to be Regina Penelope Dickens. I am researching the NORMAN that came from VA to Surry Co. My earliest NORMAN ancestor was THOMAS NORMAN of Surry Co. NC., b. ca 1715 VA, whose wife was said to be Elizabeth ______. My next ancestor is Thomas' son Eli NORMAN (I don't know if Thomas had more children.) Eli, b. ca 1740 VA, m. by 1764 Sarah Ann _____. Eli was listed in the first and second tax lists for Surry Co., NC, but not in earlier ones for Rowan, from which Surry was formed in 1770. His father, Thomas, did not appear in Surry Co. records until 1780, when he purchased 370 acres of land there, adjoining Eli's land. On Sept. 27, 1787, Eli sold his land in Surry Co., but was then already a resident of Greenville Co. SC. Eli and Sarah had the following known children: (1) Isaac, b. ca 1765, married Nancy BENNETT (*my line.) (2) Elizabeth, b. ca 1767, married Joel Bennett. (3) Rhoda, b. 1768; m. Paul ABNEY. (4) Henry, b. ca 1773, settled in Williamson Co. IL (5) Aaron, b. ca 1775. (6) Lydia, m. Reynolds - I am looking for the name of the wife of Ezekial Reynolds. Ezekial was born in Hertford Co., NC 3Mar1760. He moved to Surry Co. and served in the NC line, Rev. War. I believe he married in Surry Co. as he lived there before the War and until 1795, when he moved to Washington Co., VA. He appears in the 1790 Census of Surry with the name spelled Renolds. Ezekial sold land in Surry Co., in 1793 - "200 ac Beaver Can Ck waters Yadkin River". However, I can find no references to his wife. It is possible that her first name was Amanda. Can anyone help?

William Swaim was listed on the 1850 Surry Co., NC census but died in Buncombe Co., NC about 1857 in the Leicester, NC area. His son William, Jr. had died in 1851. His son Andrew Wade is listed on the 1860 census living with a Gillespie family in the Sa ndy Mush, NC area. Andrew Wade Swaim left NC for Ducktown, TN about 1861 and joined the CSA. I am searching for information about William Swaim and Andrew Wade Swaim sometimes spelled Swain. I would appreciate any information on these or their kin. I am researching William and Sarah Waggoner. He died and left will in Stokes Co., NC in 1805. Also, Samuel Waggoner who died in 1803, also left will in Stokes co., NC 1805. I believe they are father (Sam'l) and son, William. Can anybody help me affirm this? I know Samue had a son William, but, am not positive his William is "my" William. His will names son William. Also a deed or two. But, more than one Samuel and/or William may have been in the same areas of Surry and Stokes Co., NC. William and Sarah had two sons that I can bring up to date: the eldest (my g.g.g. granadfathr, Joseph Waggoner, who married Elizabeth Caston (dau. of Glass Caston). Also, the youngest son, Jesse Minter Waggoner. These two brothers were later in Tn. earlly 1800's. Allied families: Caston, Perkins, Tate,etc.

They initially lived in Albemarle County, VA, then in Prince Edward County, VA, and migrated to Georgia and South Carolina after living in Surry County between 1772 and 1782. Marble Stone left a will in Georgia naming sons Solomon and Littleberry (from whom I am descended), and daughters Annie Stone McAnalley, Betty Stone Wheeler, and Nancy Stone.
