NCGenWeb North Carolina Statewide Queries when the county is not known...

Please exhaust all resources to identify the right county before you post to this board.  The likelihood of your finding a match of information is very much greater on the county pages than here.

A list of all North Carolina counties which have a NCGenWeb Project page can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncgenweb/county.html

If you know the town, you can find the county by using the helpful sites in Places and Maps.

If you need to find a little on the history of North Carolina and the formation of her counties then look at our NC History sites.

There is a wealth of information available in a variety of Archives that may help you connect to your North Carolina ancestors.

NOTE: All of these links are here to help you find the best place to post your query, where it will have the best chance of connecting you with someone that might know something about your family line. If you can find the right county, then that is where you need to post, not here. If you submit a query with a known location in NC included in the query on the Unknown County boards, it will be deleted without notice to you.

When you know the county, GO TO THE COUNTY and post your query there.

CHEROKEE queries should be posted to the Qualla Boundary, which is the name of the Cherokee Indian Reservation in Western North Carolina.

Okay, if you still don't have a clue where your family was in North Carolina, go ahead and Post a Query

Thank you and I hope you are successful in your quest!
