Location:  3/4 mile east of Portal and 1/2 mile north in SW1/2 of Sec 29, Soo Twp right along the Canadian border.  This cemetery was the property of James Green, son of John Green.  James donated the land for the cemetery.  His father was on of the first burials in the cemetery

This cemetery was copied August 28, 1986 by Maxine Workman, Shirley Simmons and Ethel Menholt

Born 22 Dec 1843 at St John's New Brunswick.  Came to Portal after being appointed to a position with the U.S. Immigration Service. Was the Chinese Inspector Arrived about 1895.  Came from Bathgate, N.D. where he farmed.  Hand 13 children.   Land for this cemetery was donated to the church by Mr. Green's son James Green..

Wife of John Green.  Ellen McGrawin was born in Janesville, Wisconsin in 1850.  She died on 13 April 1932 at the farm one mile east of Portal.  She married John Green in 1869, moved to Bathgate in 1882 and to Portal in 1899.  Listed children:  John L., Thomas, R. E., James, Charles, Phillip, Vincent and Catherine.

Moved to Portal in 1902, homesteaded 6 miles west of Portal.  Moved to Portal in 1905 and managed the Langworthy Lumber Co, was postmaster at Portal for over 20 years. Active in civic affairs. Seven children, Lawrence, Elsie, Clarence, Floyd, Nora  and Nuvave twins, and one other daughter died as infant.

Two sons Tracy and Duffy.  Duffy was killed in WWII

Came from Northgate, N.D. where he was in charge of the lumber yard owned by Piper Howe Lumber Co of Minot.  He purchased the old Poolroom in Portal from Al Morden in 1934.  In 1946 he purchased the Hardware Store in Portal from Hans Sjue.  He opened a lumber yard in 1949 on the Soo Line property and opereated it until he died.   One son Charles.

Joseph Jacob Myers was born in Alsace_Loraine and came to the U.S. with his father in 1852.  He was in the civil war with the Ohio Volunteers.  He was imprisoned in Andersonville during the war.  he married Joanna Hickey on August 24, 1868.  They came to N.D. in 1900 and homestead on sec 34 in Short Creek Township.  They had 10 children;  Frank, Mrs O Berge, Mrs Norman Onstine, Mrs Jos Hill, Mrs W.H. Bruck, W.E., Mrs Dan McDonnell and Mrs W. Showers
