FRED FORSYTHE

Fred Forsythe Family

Fred, Leone and Valorayne Forsythe came to Pollock from Drake, N. D., in the 1940s. We lived in the west end of Old Pollock.
I taught at the Reierson School east of Pollock in 1946-1947. Then I taught the 6th grade in 1948 at the Pollock School, moved to the primary room in 1949 and taught there until we moved up to New Pollock.
Valorayne graduated from Pollock High School and then went on to graduate from nursing school in Bismarck. Later she married a college professor from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. They have made their home there and have two sons and one daughter.
I have had the pleasure of having the nicest group of children to teach and the finest group of supportive parents to work with. They were just wonderful. I am glad I came to Pollock - a town of good people. And, here I intend to stay.

FRED FREEMAN

Fred Freeman Family

Fred Freeman was born July 26, 1873, in Clayton County, Iowa. In 1906 he moved to the Dakotas and settled on a homestead in the Dale area northwest of Pollick. Mr. Freeman, a lover of horses, worked several years with Ben Haggard of Hazelton, N.D., breaking horses. In the early years he made many trips to Eureka with a team of horses.
He married Pearl Green of Linton at Linton on Feb. 14, 1913.
Edith Pearl (Green) Freeman was born June 8, 1888, in Vernon County, Wis., to the Cecil Greens. She came with her parents to the Pollock area in 1910. They settled in the Westfield area, later moving to Linton where she was employed by the late Doctor Hogue.
They lived in Linton for awhile, later living on a farm in the Dale area. In 1922, they moved into Pollock where they operated a cream station for a few years.
To this union three daughters, Addipearl, Arlouine and Orvilla, and one son, Orval, were born.
Fred Freeman passed away March 4, 1967 [Note: 1961], and Pearl Freeman on April 20, 1967. Both were laid to rest in Spring Valley Cemetery at Pollock.
