ALICE LORENA CARNES IRWIN
Alice Irwin, 104, 611 15th Ave S., died Tuesday, April 28, 1998 at home.

 

     Alice Lorena Carnes was born Aug. 10, 1893, the daughter of Lewis and Ada (Cook) Carnes, in Griswold, Iowa. She moved with her family to Chesterville, Texas, where she attended school. They later moved to Spokane and Greenbluff, Wash., where she continued her education.
     She married Cecil Irwin on Aug. 14, 1912. In January 1917, they moved to Ardoch, N.D., where they lived and farmed. They moved to Grand Forks in 1945. Cecil Irwin died Nov. 13, 1974. She is survived by a daughter, Beulah Hodges, Grand Forks; two grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-granddaughter.
     She was preceded in death by a daughter, Zeta Wilson Evans; two granddaughters; a great-great-grandson; three sisters; three brothers; a half sister; and a half brother.
     Services to be held at 2:PM Friday, Wesley United Methodist Church, Grand Forks.
     Visitation from 4 to 6 PM today, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, and one hour before services in the Church.
     Burial will be at Sunnywood Gardens, Grand Forks.
