Perth This was a rural post office established November 2, 1881 with Alexander Stewart (1832-1921) pm, who was also the first assessor of Lakeville Township. It was located in NE 1/4 Section 22-153-52, Lakeville Township, six miles WSW of Manvel, and named by settlers from Perth, Ontario, Canada, which was named for Perthshire, Scotland, which was originally known as Saint Johnstown. The Stewart family had emigrated to Canada in 1836, and many of them came here in 1879-1880. The post office closed March 23, 1882 with mail to Manvel. |
