Pearson This was a farm post office established April 6, 1880 with William Sheppard Postmaster. It was located in NE 1/4 Section 6-152-50, Falconer Township, seven miles NNW of Grand Forks, and named for William Pearson who purchased the quarter section immediately to the west of Mr. Sheppard's land on the same date, June 8, 1880. Others say it was named for Pearson Wisconsin. The post office closed February 7, 1882 with mail to Grand Forks. Pierson is an erroneous spelling. |

Schurmeier This was a Great Northern Rail Road station built in 1881 in S 1/2 Section 7-152-50, Falconer Township, between Grand Forks and Manvel. It was named for J.H. Schurmeier, a wagon maker from Saint Paul, Minnesota, who owned land along the right-of-way at this site. The buildings at Schurmeier were moved to other sites after a few years but the siding was used into the 1930's. The site is now vacant. |
