Ashley, ND

Ashley is the oldest town in McIntosh County. In the early years it was called Hoskins.   It began in May 1884 south of the little lake of the same name; it ws to be the seat of the county.  Hoskins as the maiden name of the wife of the publisher of the Bismarck Tribune.  Ashley was named in honor of the owners of the Norwestern Construction Company.  The railroad reached Ashley in 1901.
