Amundsville Township was settled by homesteaders in 1912 and 1913. There
was a claim shack on almost every quarter section. In 1916 more land to
the south, known as the Coal Land, was opened to homesteaders and was soon
occupied by settlers.
A national Wildlife Refuge is in Sec.16, 17 and part of 20 and 21. This
refuge is around McLean Lake in Section 16. |

Amundsville This was a farm post office established December 1, 1913 with Joseph O. Amundson PM in his country store. It was located in SE 1/4 Sec. 27-150-88, Amundsville Twp., five miles NW of Roseglen. The name honored both the pm and his brother Henry, who came here in 1912 from Glencoe, MN. It closed May 31, 1916 with mail to Ryder |
