Kepeto

This was a farm post office established June 5, 1884 with Anton Peterson, a native of Denmark, as pm. It was located in NE 1/4 Sec. 2-145-82, Buffalo Lake Twp., four miles SE of Underwood, and closed October 20, 1885 with mail to Weller. The origin of the name is unknown.

Minden

This Soo Line RR Station was built in 1913 in W 1/2 Sec. 23-145-82, Buffalo Lake Twp., between Washburn and Underwood. The site was donated to the railroad by Karl Eichhorst, and named for Minden Prussia. A townsite was platted here in June 1916, but when the post office was established December 16, 1916 the name was changed to Falkirk to avoid confusion with Mandan.

Falkirk

This Soo Line station was founded in 1913 in W 1/2 Sec. 23-145-82, Buffalo Lake Twp., between Washburn and Underwood, and named Minden. When the post office was established December 16, 1916 with Walter C, Jertson pm, the name was changed to Falkirk to avoid confusion with Mandan. The new name was chosen by postal officials because it was the only place with this name in the entire country, and traces to Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland, the site of a famous battle on July 22, 1298. The new townsite had grown to a population of 50 in 1920, but it has declined to less than half that figure today. The post office closed April 30, 1955 with mail to washburn.
