Casey / Wiprud This was a rural post office established September 3, 1902 as Casey with Mary B. Casey pm. Casey is a Celtic name meaning valorous. It was located in SW 1/4 Sec. 17-148-80, Wiprud Twp., eight miles north of Turtle Lake on the SW shore of Crooked Lake. On July 25, 1904 Stener T. Wiprud a native of Norway became pm, changing the name to Wiprud, and he along with his brother operated the facility along with a country store until 1914 when mail went to Turtle Lake. |
