Huberton

This townsite was platted about 1913 in NE 1/4 Sec. 9-149-89, Laquemont Twp., in anticipation of a railroad that never was built. It was named for P.H. Huber, a local landowner who was a promoter of the site. In 1915 a post office was established in Sec. 8-149-89, just to the west of this site, but it was named Raub. That name was retained when it moved two miles SW in 1916 to Sec. 19-149-89, the location of a new townsite

Raub

This place was founded as a rural post office October 2, 1912 with Miss Nellie Alice Taylor (1878-1951) pm. It was located on the Jacob Raub farm in NW 1/4 Sec. 23-149-89, Loquemont Twp., about three miles south of the present townsite. In 1915 it was moved to Sec. 8-149-89, the site of a country store run by A.P. Blonde. The next year it moved to Sec. 19-149-89, a new townsite promoted by the new pm, Timothy C. Veum. Jacob Raub (1875-1948), the namesake of the townsite and post office, had come here from Raub, IN, which had been named for A>D> Raub, his grandfather, in 1872. A population of 150 was claimed in 1920, but a 1978 count showed just 5 residents of Raub. The post office, Zip Code 58774, closed October 15, 1979 with mail to Roseglen, although government records did not record this fact until November 12, 1985.
