Malcolm This was a farm post office established March 3, 1902 with Ole C. Peterson pm. It was located in Sec. 4-148-82, Malcolm Twp., ten miles NE of Coleharbor, and named for its township, which was named by Swedish settlers from Detroit Lakes, MN for unknown reasons. Malcolm is a Celtic name meaning servant of St. Columbia, the sixth-century Scottish missionary whose name means the dove in Latin. The post office closed March 31, 1912 with mail to Coal Harbor. Malcom is an erroneous spelling. |
