Bayfield This was a farm post office established November 17, 1905 with James Fielding pm. It was located in SE 1/4 Sec. 20-146-80, five miles south of Turtle Lake and named for Bayfield County, WI, which also has a county seat named Washburn, named for the same C.C. Washburn that the McLean County city is named for. The WI county was named for Henry W. Bayfield, a British naval officer. The post office closed March 15, 1907 with mail to Turtle Lake. |
