Ethel This was a farm post office established January 15, 1898 with Dan Williams pm. It was located in NW 1/4 Sec. 27-147-79, Wise Twp., twelve miles NE of Turtle Lake on the shore of Brush Lake. It was named for nearby Ethel Lake, Named for the daughter of John Merry, a local rancher. Ethel is a Teutonic name meaning Noble. The post office closed October 15, 1900 with mail to Turtle Lake. |
