1850Images of the 1850 Census when the area was still part of Pembina County in Minnesota Teritory [pages 19A through 32B]
1860The 1860 enumeration of "Unorganized Dakota" included settlers in Pembina and old Fort Abercrombie in present-day North Dakota. A total of 4,837 persons were enumerated in "Unorganized Dakota" in 1860.
1870The 1870 enumeration of the Dakota Territory included Pembina County in present-day eastern North Dakota, and several military forts (trading posts) including Fort Buford, Fort Stevenson, and Fort Rice, as well as Fort Totten, in present-day North Dakota. A total of 14,181 persons were enumerated in the Dakota Territory in 1870, including 2,405 persons in present-day North Dakota.
