Mahnke, Jesse
Time: c1895
Place: Norma, ND
I have a 1944 newspaper article about my Gallagher family.
One paragraph says "George Gallagher left the home at the
turn of the century to settle in Norma [North Dakota].
Now he has retired from farming. His one son, Harry,
died but he has one daughter, Mrs. Jesse Mahnke, living in
Norma [North Dakota]." The entire article is posted at:

My question to you is who is "Mrs. Jesse Mahnke?"
Is the first name Jesse her husbands name? Do you have
a Jesse MAHNKE in your lineage? I would love to find my cousins on this line...

Rudberg, Nellie Sophie
Time: 1903 - 1914
Place: Tolley, ND
Nellie RUDBERG came to the Tolley area as a schoolteacher around 1903.
She married Fred Raymond WINDUS in 1906 in Tolley.
However, some major scandal occurred (according to family rumor),
and in 1914, her husband took his own life in the barn of the farm
they were renting, leaving behind Nellie and their two children.
He was a grain elevator operator in the area.
I am interested in any information predating his death,
from any source, that would identify the scandal that was so
devastating to the family.

O'Brien, Michael
Time: 1907 - 1911
Place: Tolly, ND
I am looking form info on my Gr-Grandfather, Michael O'Brien.
I know that Michael and his wife Ellen CLIFFORD O'BRIEN resided
in Tolley in 1909 where Michael filed for his US Citizenship Papers.
Michael and Ellen then moved to Chester MT where they
Homesteaded June 15, 1910. In Nov. 1910 he filed for a leave
of absence on the Homestead. His request stated that he would
return to Tolley, ND. The leave was granted from Nov.1, 1910
thru April 1, 1911. From his land Patent file it was reported
that Michael died April 28, 1911, in Chester. Upon searches
done in Chester NO records can be found where Micheal Died in
Chester, MT. My hopes is that he actually died in Tolley, ND
and is possibly buried there. Does any one have cemetary info
on MIchael, or can tell me where to write for this info.
Baetzer, Julius and Kate
Time: 1900 - 1951
Place: Brandon Township, Mohall, ND
Julius homesteaded in Mohall around 1900 with his first wife,
Minnie (Bethke) Baetzer. Around 1922 his wife died in
Eau Claire, WI and Julius disappeared from the family tree.
I have no other description of him to help me in my search.
I do know that at some time after 1922 Julius remarried a woman
by the name of Kate who was still living in the Mohall area until 1951.
Julius died Feb. 20, 1950 in Jamestown, ND where he is buried.
Any information to help me locate his second wife or children
from his first marriage would be greatly appreciated.
I'm hoping to contact the local library to see if an obituary
was written up on him at the time of his death.
Thank you for your interest in my query.
