Lea William WRIGHT and Pearl Alma HAUNTZ were married April 7, 1916 in
Jamestown, Stutsman County. They had two children while living in
Stutsman County Robert William born March 19, 1917 and Francis Lea born
May 21, 1920. Looking for 1920 and 1930 census. Lea William WRIGHT was
in the military. Any military records available between 1910-1930? I
also believe they had a ranch in Stutsman County, any land records
available between 1910-1920? They left Stutsman County after 1920 to
California, I believe. Any help out there?
Thanks to all of you.

I seek info on Severt Benjamin DAHLE (1891-1951) & family. He operated a
restaurant in Courtenay, ND for several years. Severt was born in Hayfield,
Dodge Co., MN to parents Lars W. & Inga Dahle (emigrants from Vik, Sogn,
Norway), and during the period 1928-1944 he resided in St.Paul, MN.
Consequently, he ran his restaurant and resided in Courtenay prior to 1928
and/or after 1944 until his death in 1951.
Severt was buried in the Evanger Church/Cemetery, Sargeant, Mower Co., MN
where he had been baptized/confirmed.. It is conceivable that his
OBITUARY appeared in a local newspaper in/near Courtenay, ND in addition to
the one that appeared in Hayfield Herald. His DOD was August 5th 1951 (in
Courtenay, ND?).
Severt B. DAHLE married Emma CLIFTON of Maddock, ND and they had one son
Sherman Ardean DAHLE who survived his father. In 1951 he was an instructor
at a business college at Honolulu, HI.
Thanks in advance.

I referenced a birth of Clarence Wagner from Courtenay, back in 1998. According to CIarence's marriage license (marriage to Maybell Sensiba in 1939) his father was Matt WAGNER and his mother was Louise BARR.
The SS Death Index shows a Matt WAGNER that was born 12/04/1884 and died in March 1976 and whose last known residence was Courtenay. The age would be in the right frame to be Clarence's father.

Hi, I am seeking information about Dr. M.H. Culbert. Dr. Culbert was born in Portland Indiana about 1885 or 6.
His mother was the adopted daughter of my Wm. Strock. Wm. was a brother to my paternal grandfather. I am in
the process of writing a book about the Strock family and would like to include information about Dr. Culbert's
family. From the 1920 soundex I found that he was married to a woman by the name of Voletta L. who was born
in Wisconsin about 1893. I found that Dr. Culbert was buried in a cemetery in Stutsman Co. in 1953. What is the
name of the cemtery? I assume that by this time his widow is deaceased. Were there any children? From his
mothers obit in 1931 it states that he was living in Courtaney. Was Dr. Culbert a medical dr. His father was a
vet. Heres hoping I will receive a reply. Thanks Phyllis

Hi,
I am seeking information on an Isabel or Isabelle JOHNSON EDDY who was
born in MN and who married a Paul EDDY.
According to family obituaries, Isabel(le) & Paul EDDY resided in
Jamestown, ND in 1954 when her brother, Emery A. Johnson passed away in
Warren, MN and in 1957 when another family member passed away.
I believe that Paul EDDY passed away in 1984, but I am not sure that
this Paul Eddy is Isabel(le)'s husband or not.
Right now I do not have a birth date for Isabel (Isabelle) JOHNSON
EDDY, but she was likely born sometime after 1905 in either St. Cloud
or Alexandria MN. Her parents were Charles & Sophia Johnson who were
both born in Sweden. Her father's parents were Jonas & Anna Sofia
(Engman) Johnson who emigrated with a daughter, Emma AHLQUIST, from
Sweden to St. Paul, Minnesota in 1902 when they were 69 and 70 years
old.
If anyone knows anything about this EDDY family, I would very much
appreciate hearing from them.

Researching Bridget (Brigid) Walsh (Welsh, Welch) who emigrated from Ireland in about 1866
when she was 16. Her obituary says she was from County Cork. She married
Patrick Hayes when she got to this county, so the story goes. They were burned out
of Chicago in the Great Fire, moved to Madison, WI where Patrick, a skilled carpenter,
worked on the new capitol building, and then on to Medina, where Patrick was
the station master for the NPRR. Patrick died in 1882 or 1883 in a snow plow accident
and his widow with 6 surviving children opened her house as a boarding house
for railroad workers. My great grandfather, Anthony James Hill from England,
stayed at her home while he worked on the railroad and stayed to marry her and
father her children; and to add my grandfather, Frederick James Hill in 1887.
Bridget died in 1915, the first funeral in the new Catholic Church and A.J. died in 1917.
They are buried in Jamestown Cemetery. Any connections? Thanks so much.

Seeking location of "McDonald Lake" in Hawk's Nest, Stutsman County ND, homesteaded around
1900 by James and Grace (Locke) McDonald who raised black angus steer on the land. Also seeking
information on the McDonald neighbors, the Zuber family--several young Zuber children were rescued
in a house fire by Ellen Gordie McDonald, age about 16, who died saving the children she was babysitting.
Please contact Tammi Mitchell at MmeMozart@aol.com

Looking for information/photos/stories on the following families that lived in the Jamestown/Pingree area in the late 1800s / early 1900s:
- John Hosmer married to Frances Lane. Both died in the Pingree area 1903. Their children were Dana, Dora, Floyd, Grace.
Floyd died in a farm accident 1900. Grace married Charles Boyd. Dana married Alta Pew. Dora married Elmer Lynde.
- William Fletcher & his wife Dora. I’m interested in discovering if Dora was a Hosmer cousin. William & Dora were guardians of Dana & Dora in 1903. As far as I know William & Dora didn’t have any children.
- Grace Hosmer married Charles Boyd. Had twin girls Edith & Hazel. Hazel died at childbirth – Edith married William Braniff in Canada.

Edith KOWELSKI (various spellings – OR incorrectly spelled LOWELSKI, COWELSKI, GOWELSKI, KOLOSKI)
was sent to ST. JOHNS ACADEMY, Jamestown, about July 1905 by Foster County commissioners
when she was about 10. Her parents were gone and siblings dispersed. She remained at the Academy
until about 1910 when she became ill and was sent to Minneapolis where she died in 1911.
Were the Academy students who boarded at the CONVENT listed in the 1910 CENSUS?
I could not find more than a few names associated with the school. Would there be YEARBOOKS
with her photo or information? I would appreciate any information sent to my new email address.

I am looking for my Grandfather's DUNLOP cousins. They lived in Stutsman County and then branched out.
He used to visit them in the Jamestown area. I remember him saying they went to their farm. I think one of
his Dunlop cousins was in the war? Cecil or John? The branch was from Ayrshire, Scotland. Bowman
Gibson Dunlop (b. 1861 Dreghorn, Scotland) came over and married Grace Pendray (about 1894) and they
had Tom (b. 1895), Jean, Clarence, Millicent, John (B. about 1901), Mary, Nellie (b. 1907), Hugh. I remember
Dad talking about Grandpa's cousin Nellie? Some of Bowman's children and his siblings went to Washington,
Minnesota and Maryland. Others went south. Last contact was a funeral for one of them in Stutsman County
at a Highland Cemetary? Any leads are great. I am just filling in holes. Email debbie_ridley@hotmail.com

On Dec. 18, 1926 an abandoned baby girl was found at Trinity Hospital in Stutsman County, North Dakota.
The baby was judged to be about two weeks old. The baby was named "Betty Lou" by the hospital staff and
cared for until she was officially adopted on Aug. 27, 1927 by William and Margaret McCauley.
Anyone who knows anything about this abandoned baby is asked to please respond.

I'm looking for information about my biological grandfather, his name is Lincoln Frederick, His dad's name is Jack Frederick and his brothers name is Franklin Frederick. My understanding is Jack Frederick made residence in Jamestown, ND. His son Lincoln Frederick married my grandmother Clementine Robinson and fathered my dad John Louis Robinson. Clementine and Lincoln divorced. No one in my family knows much. We know he was once a barber in Oregon or Washington after the divorce and may have married a woman by the name of Florance Erickson.
Can you provide any information. We believe he has passed away. Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.

I am helping a friend, Trishann (Weiss) Zdroik, search for her birth family. She
was born July 26, 1966 in Jamestown, NorthDakota, and her adoption was handled
through Lutheran Social Services in Fargo and finalized in Wisconsin. Her birth
mother was about 16 and her birth father was about 21 at the time, and one or both
may have been of Norweigan descent. Trish believes that her given name at birth
may have been Tanya or Tonja. Her adoptive parents are Herbert and Charlene Weiss
of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. One of Trish's two sons was born with a rare genetic
disorder, "situs inversus-cilia disconesia," and she and her husband need
'to learn more about her medical history. ; They would be grateful for ANY tips
about maternity homes which existed in or near Jamestown in the 1960's, how to
access local hospital and court records, etc. You can reach her through my
e-mail (halltuck@coredcs.com) or contact her directly:
