INDEX TO "WRITERS BLOCK", 2004, Bruce Berg, Jamestown

INTRODUCTION

This is the index to the most recent partial history of Jamestown. The name "Writers Block" refers to block 41 of the original addition to Jamestown, where Bruce grew up. His parents operated a photography studio on Jamestown's main drag, starting in the 1920's. Their house was three blocks east of their studio, past the library, the Methodist Church, the high school, and on the east side of the block he writes about. He tells a delightful story about all of his neighbors, their comings and goings and how they all took part in his introduction to Jamestown and the world. He writes much from memory, but much more is gleaned from taped interviews he conducted with his pals, officials, people of import, veterans, and people who have stories to tell.

This index contains every name of a person or place mentioned in the book. The inclusion of the name in the index does not guarantee that there is a story about this person. He (she) may just be mentioned as a teacher, a fist fighter, a listee of Stutsman County Civil War vets, or has some other minor roll in the book. Most of the people in the book are still living.

Bruce Berg is a retired high school and college English and Speech instructor. Bruce is an author, playwright, baseball historian, actor, patron of the arts, golfer, and one of Jamestown's historians. He writes for public radio. He is into history and on the board of the Stutsman County Museum. He remembers and knows the location and activities of almost every kid he had as a student.

The 11 by 8.5 inch soft cover book, including many photos, is available from the author for $20 which includes shipping to US locations. Contact him for shipment out of the country. You can order the book from him by sending your request along with cash or a check for US dollars to: Bruce Berg, 705 2nd Ave SE, Jamestown, ND 58401.
