LaFollette

This was a farm post office established July 18, 1904 with George W. Smith postmaster, who named it for Senator Robert Marion LaFollette (1855-1925), the Wisconsin Governor and U.S. Senator who achieved a large national following as an Independent candidate for President. The post office was located in SW1/4 Section 18-153-87, Lund township, nine miles NW of Makoti, and just inside the Ward County line, although virtually all of its patrons were in Montrail County. It closed January 2, 1907 with mail to Plaza.
