Hesnault

This was a farm post office established June 30, 1903 with John A. Berg Post Master. It was located in Section 35-154-86, Tolgen Township, fourteen miles SSE of Berthold, and named for the Hesnault family who were pioneer settlers in the area. Mildred Hesnault was the private secretary to General Arthur MacArthur, father of General Douglas MacArthur. Bernt E. Edwardson (1880-1939) became post master in 1916, moving the facility across the section line to his home in SE1/4 Section 34-154-86.  The post office closed September 29, 1917 with mail to DesLacs.
