Abridged: Albert Curtis died at his home west of Oakdale. He had been in poor health for the past two years. Albert Curtis was born 12 mile south of Kalamazoo, Michigan. In his early manhood he worked on a farm and taught an occasional term of school. During his residence in Antelope County, he taught several terms of school. He was married to Addie Brownell. On March 4, 1880, Mr Curtis came to Antelope County and the same month made homestead entry on the east half of the northwest quarter and the north half of the northeast quarter of section 18, township 24, range 6, five miles west of Oakdale. Mrs Curtis and the children came three months later. Three children were born to Mr and Mrs Curtis, William and Mary Belle, both deceased, and J. Harry. Albert was best known by the name "Uncle Bert". |
