Leland Cook and his accordian

During Denmans’ late ‘2O’s and the early ‘3O’s, (depression years) weddings and gala events for most of us were out. But we had Cook and the Schultz boys and a few others and their music. We also had Sunday get togethers at ball games, swimming in lakes and rivers, etc., and just a plain party or card party at someones house in the evening. Maybe the food was cornbread and beans if the hour became late.

Perhaps the charivari for some of us was the biggest and best event of our Wedding. Rugs were rolled up, a room emptied except for the piano, Cook and the boys came, with a noisy group, and dancing went on until daybreak.
