Register of Deeds Office

same street address as above

Hours: Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed for major and federal holidays and Arbor Day

Resources:

Large original books of deeds, registries and sales of property, are available for public perusal. These date back to the formation of the county in 1855. Come in with a surname or a legal description and as much information as possible about the parties involved in the property.

Fees:
Copies are .50 cents per page (very large pages) and must be obtained through office personnel.

In Person:
These can only be viewed and searched in person.

Note:While clerks can be of some help in your search, their time is limited and they must give priority to the county's regular business. Also, please be aware that the tables where books are laid out for viewing are tall, so a researcher must stand. When I went there, I found my legs wore out before my search ended.
