MARIK, FRANK JOSEPH [September 28, 1904 - October 18, 1977]
SERVICES FOR FRANK MARIK
Services were held Tuesday, October 18, 1977 for Frank Joseph mark age 73 of Howells. He passed away Saturday, October 15 at the Schuyler Memorial Hospital after ailing since March.
Mr. Marik was born on September 28, 1904 in Czechoslovakia to Joseph and Marie (Lanek) Marik. He came to the USA when he was a small child. He attended school at rural District #51, south of Howells.
His first wife Lillian Podliska died on October 2, 1959. In June of 1965 he was married to Mary Vogeltanz. Frank farmed until 1928 when he purchased a tavern, known as Marik's Tavern. He owned and operated this business in Howells until retiring in 1971.
Mr. Marik was a member of St. John Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Workmen Lodge, Past Fireman (Volunteer), Past Community Club Member, and Past Town Board member.
He is survived by his wife Mary, two sons, Marvin of Howells and Frank L. of Grand Island, four grandchild and four great grandchildren, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Marilyn) Wieneke, Dodge, a stepson Delwyn Vogeltanz of Howells, two sisters; Mrs. Leo (Mary) Rueschoff Sr. of Howells and Mrs. Jennie Rymes, Schuyler; a brother, Joseph Marik, Howells. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sisters, Mrs. Wm (Emma) Foy.
Visitation was held Monday from 3-9 p.m. at the Humlicek Funeral Home which was in charge of the services. A 3:00 p.m. rosary was said at the church by the Altar Society. Other rosaries were at 7:30 p.m. for the public and 8:00 p.m. for the Catholic Workman at the funeral home. Father Kovar officiated at the services with burial at St. John Catholic Cemetery. Pall bearers were Roland Rueschhoff, Leo Rueschoff Jr., Leslie Jindra, Kenneth Wienneke, Al Schroeder and Joseph Marik Jr.
