JOHN J. MACHACEK FUNERAL IS JAN. 5
Funeral service for John J. Machacek, 62, Schuyler native, was held Friday at Svoboda Funeral Home.
Rev. Phillip Hayes officiated at 2 p.m. Mrs. Eugene Dostal, organist, accompanied soloist, Lloyd Edwards. Burial was in the Schuyler Cemetery with military service conducted by McLeod Post 47, American Legion and Hespen-Mitchell Post 4836, VFW.
Pallbearers were Charles Salk, Orville Novak, Lloyd Divis, Elmer Herde, Otto Krivohlavek and Frank Kramer.
A crane operator in Ashland, Mr. Machacek died Jan. 1 at the Veterans Hospital, Lincoln.
The son of John and Antonia Ondracek Machacek, he was born Sept. 24, 1916 in Schuyler where he attended public school. He served in in the United States Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 129, Ashland.
Mr. Machacek is survived by four sisters, (Antoinette) Mrs. William Urban, (Sylvia) Mrs. Robert Houfek, both of Schuyler, (Wilma) Mrs. Clair Lanning and Mrs. Olga Gilbert, both of Ashland, nieces and nephews.
His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
