- Geneva is the county seat of Fillmore county and is an important railway point. It is a station on the Chester and Fairmont line of the B & M RR and the Geneva line of the F E & M V RR, which gives it a direct outlet to the different points of the compass. The soil is rich and fertile and admirably adapted to the growth of all cereals. The improvements are of a valuable and substantial character. Among the new buildings just erected are the Citizens Bank building which cost $25,000 and a new brick hotel which cost $17,000. The First National Bank, Citizens Bank and the Bank of Geneva are solid institutions. A roller mill, foundry, brickyards, creamery, etc. are among the industries of the place. The churches are the Methodist, Congregational and Baptist. Three weekly papers are published here, the Geneva Journal, Fillmore County Democrat and Fillmore County Republican. The South Platte Land and Loan Co. are doing much for the development of Geneva and the surrounding country by their enterprise. Population 2000.
