WILLIAM S. PLACE

Willima S. Place, son of William and Elizabeth Place was born october 15th, 1866 at Frost, Ohio, Washington Co., and departed this life April 14, 1950 at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 29 days. He had been ill only 2 weeks, having suffered a stroke. On June 24, 1912 he was united in marriage to Sadie Irene Secoy at Marietta, Ohio and was a very faithful father and husband. He was the father of four children: James Dale Place at home, Perry Owen Place of Campbell, Mrs. Frank Lindblom and Mrs. Irvon Carlson of Verona. His entire life was spent farming, most of which was in Franklin County and the last 18 years in Webster County. He leaves to mourn his departure besides his wife and four children, one brother, Robert Owen Place of Campbell, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors. We are sorrowful with his family in his passing and truly we have lost a friend. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday with Rev. N.H. Hawkins officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. M.L. Scoville and Mrs. Oliver Collison with Mrs. Leonard Frisbie at the piano. Burial was in the Osco Cemetery.
SADIE PLACE
Services Held January 21 for Sadie Place
Sadie Place was christened Sara Irene, and was a daughter of Seldon and Sarah Jane Secoy. She was born March 17, 1895 at Cutler, Ohio, where she received her early education and grew to womanhood. She was one of a family of three brothers, Jack, Will, Elmer, and 6 sisters, Dora, Belle, Emma, Lennie, Ida and Addie. On June 24, 1912 she was united in marriage to William Salen Place at Marietta, Ohio, and shortly thereafter came to reside on a farm near the old Bee Hive School house north west of Campbell. Two children were born to bless this union, a daughter Florence Martha, and a son James Dale. Following the sale of their farm northwest of Campbell, another was purchased near Bladen in March of l932. It was here that Mrs. Place passed away after a brief illness on January 18, 1967. She had attained the age of 71 years, 10 months and 1 day. Mrs. Place spent more than 55 years of her life in the Bladen-Campbell community. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her chief occupation in life was her farm home. On April 14, 1950 her husband, William S. Place died. Since that time she made her home with her son, Dale, on the farm 3 miles east of Campbell. She leaves to mourn her departure from this abode of earthly flesh - a son, Dale of Bladen, a daughter Mrs. Florence Arneach of Pender; a step-daughter, Mrs. Jessie Lindblom of Geneva; a step-son Perry Place of Campbell; two brothers and a sister in Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held January 21, 1967 at 2 p.m. from the Campbell Funeral Home, with the Rev. J.M. Strong as officiant. Maurice Hermanson was soloist and Jim J. Morgan organist. Pallbearers were Allen and Larry Buettgenback, Alfred and Larry Golter, Franklin Mahin and Jim Erickson. Burial at Osco Pleasant Prairie Cemetery. Service arrangements by Campbell Funeral Home.
NOTE: Obituary card & clipping in paper listed date of birth as March 17, 1895. However on stone in Cemetery date of birth listed as 1894!
PERRY OWEN PLACE

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 27, 1983 at 10:00 a.m. in the Westminister Presbyterian Church in Campbell for Perry Owen Place, who passed away in the Grand Island Veteran's Hospital, Sunday, July 24, 1983 at the age of 87 yhears and eight months and nine days. Rev. Lonnie Eschliman officiated at the services. Mrs. Kolleen Grams sang and played "How Great Thou Art," and "Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were Dennis Koch, Duane Place, Ross Ridenour, Paul Steen, Rodney Sorensen and Harold Sindt, Jr. Interment was in the Presbyterian Cemetery at Campbell. Military rites were conducted at the cemetery by American Legion Post #169, and the U.S. flag was presented to the family. Perry was born November 15, 1895 at Frost, OH to William Solen Place and Lettie Alice French Place, and came to Nebraska at the age of ten and settled on a farm near Campbell. He served as a sniper in World War I and was wounded at the Argonne Forest in France while serving with Co. C, 125th Infantry Regiment, 32nd. Division. In addition, he ws in three major battles in Germany He married Minnie Koch on January 30, 1923, at the Presbyterian Parsonage at Campbell. To this union seven children were born. He farmed five miles northwest of Campbell until April 1981, when he became a full-time resident of Grandview Manor Nursing Home in Campbell. Perry was a member of Willie Fierstein American Legion Post #l69 at Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter in March, 1932; his wife Minnie, February, 1963; and his step-mother Sadie Place, January, 1967; and his son Hans, Decmeber, 1969. He is survived by his children Alfred and wife Marily of Bladen; Delmar of Campbell; Robert of Hastings; Jack and wife Janet of Campbell, and Betty and husband Wallace Koch of Campbelll; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters Jessie Lindblom of Geneva, Florence Carlson of Bladen, and brother Dale Place of Bladen. Perry will always be remembered as being a kind, considerate and generous person, always willing to help others, and will be missed by all who knew him.
