TRAMBLY, 31 JAN 1999
I am the great granddaughter of Nelson H. Trambly(Tremblay)
and am trying to determine if he had brothers or sisters. (not
half siblings) DOB 7 June 1862 Ontario
Do not know where he married...assume Franklin
County? 6 Nov, 1887 to Melvina Berger. Died 2 April 1937 in Campbell.
His mother remarried. She was Margaret LeBlanc Trambly
Delhaute. I would be very appreciative of any
information. Since I live a "few" miles away, I am unable to travel
as much as I'd like. Unfortunately, I do not know when my family settled in the
Campbell area from Illinois.
I believe there were many French-Canadians who came to the Franklin
County area together. Oh, I would
love to know more of the history!

My G. Grandfather, Swan Paulson, lived near Aztec, Nebraska
in Franklin Co. He was Swedish and he and his wife, Betty, came to Aztec after
suffering a plague in Sweden
and the Chicago fire. Swan came
down with consumption and died in Arkansas
where they had moved for his health. Then Betty came back to Bloomington

any more information on Swan or his family. Children: Edward, William, Albin, Esther, Amel, and Bertha.

"Daan C. de Clercq" <d.de.clercq@uba.uva.nl>
Looking for relatives of Arnold Mason de Clercq
(1835-1897). He's a member of my family, but we're only distant related. I'm in
fact a descendant of a brother of his great-great-grandfather, and I'm still
Dutch. It was Arnold's grandfather Hendrik de Clercq (1776-1850),
who in 1794 moved from Amsterdam,
The Netherlands (where I live) to Cazenovia, NY.
He was born in Cazenovia on 8 Nov.
1835, as a son of Peter de Clercq and
Laura Mason. As a young man he was paralyzed for three years, and later worked
for the association of his older brothers Gijsbert
and Augustus Hervey (they had a wholesale trade in
coal, wood and lumber in Chicago).
At a certain point he moved to Muskegon, MI,
where he was sherrif of that county from 1869 to
1871. Finally, he became ranchman (grower of small fruits) in Ezra (Wyoming)
and died there on 8 Sept. 1897.
He was married to Mary Ellis in Earlyville (Iowa)
on 30 April 1865. They had
one son, Ralph R. de Clercq, but he died young. Later
they are said to have adopted two children. I don't know their names, though.

Sometime later they moved to Stroud Oklahoma.
On November 6th, 1931,

Also, according to his obituary and my grandmother, Orestes G. Bailey was

BYERLY (or BIERLY) from Botetourt County, VA.

Nebraska. I have recently discovered
letters from Mary Elizabeth (also known as Mollie) to her sister, Eliza (TROUT)

Mollie Alice NININGER in the late 1870s.

HARRIS - Campbell,
Nebraska
- 20 May 2000
"Albion Hathaway Harris died June 17, 1896 in Campbell,
Nebraska." I am told he also is buried
there. He was born April 5 , 1847 in Cornwallis,
Nova Scotia, Canada.
He and his wife, Annie Gertrude MacLeod, and family migrated to the US
and lived in Ellinwood, Kansas.
Evidently he died from a disease (?what disease?) that
prevented his body from being taken across the state line for burial in Kansas.
Dr. Harris practiced medicine through Kansas
and Nebraska. Bill Cody was one
of his patients and the doctor's twin daughters were named for Bill Cody's
daughters - Alta and Irma. Dr. Harris' education was from Harvard (1872) and Bellevue
Hospital (1874) in NYC Any
information on the location of his grave site, cause of death or anything else,
would be welcome. Judy Shone, Oakville, Ontario

WISTRAND 03 Aug 2000
Hi, my name is Brian L. Berg, I am
originally from Allamakee Cnty Iowa.
In the late 1860's, 70,s or possibly early eighties some relatives of mine came
to settle in either Franklin (which I was always told) or Harlan Cnty (which I think is possible as my uncles name is Harlan
and My Grandmothers is Alma which seems highly
coincidental) the sirname I am looking for is Wistrand or some bastardidation
there of. Sometime in the late 1800's in the time frame stated above my Great great grandparents migrated to the US
from Sweden.
The planned to settle in Nebraska
and were traveling with a group of Swedes through Allamakee which had a high
population of Swedish settlers. While resting over there they became ill and
died. They had four minor chidren, two teenage boys
and two girls who I believe were 12 and 9 at the time. The boys went on with
the other families to Nebraska.
The girls were taken in by a Swedish family (sirname Faegre) in Allamakee. Their names were Marie and Clara.
Marie is my great grandmother. She married Fredrick Schweinfurth in the 1880's and had three children.
Clara married Peter Larson
in the 1890s and had one child. In 1906 an influenza epidemic
struck Allamakee. Two of Maries children died leaving
only Alma
my grandmother surviving. Clara became ill helping her sister and she and her four year old son also died in 1906. My
Grandmother had contact with her first cousins in Nebraska
and even journeyed to visit and I remember some relative visiting when I was a
child ( I am 38 now) I don’t know if the sirname Wistrand has survived or
not. I am hoping to find some relatives still extant By
providing you with information I have I am hoping someone in your historical
society or organzation will have a bell go off.
Please email any information you might have for me to brikeeia@hotmail.com

BLANK, SWANEY, LYON
- 21 Dec 2000
BLANK, SWANEY, LYON, These are my
family history names that I have been working on for my family history book. I
have been told that there were some BLANK'S in Franklin Co. years ago. My father, Kenneth Gordon BLANK, b. July 10, 1914 in Gordon, Neb.
His father: William John BLANK, b. Marion, Wis.
mother: Georgia LYON, b. Gordon, Neb.
They had two children, my father Kenneth and my Aunt Loreen,
then they got a divorce, Georgia,
married 2nd husband, Frank SWANEY, I am not sure what the kids
ages were, but they took over the SWANEY name, but there never was an adoption.
My father Kenneth, and my mother, got a divorced when I was maybe 3 months old.
So I lost all contact with my BLANK, SWANEY, AND LYON, families. But, when I
grew up I did find my father Kenneth, it was great, but he died in three months, that did not give me enough time to get my family
history. Thank you to anyone that could give me some information on these
families, my family history book is real small for now. Harold SWANEY email: hsbrbks@hotmail.com

They had two children: (1) Charles ("Charlie")
Brown, born 16 December 1870, in Rosefield Township,
Peoria County, Illinois, married Frances L.
-----, about 1898, presumably in Franklin County. They were divorced before the
1910 Census enumeration. (2) Mary Jane ("Janie") Brown, born 23 April 1874, in Nebraska,
died after 1920. In the 1920 Census enumeration she was noted as single and my
understanding is that she never married. Charles Brown may have had a

HALVORSON - 15 Jul 2001
This story in the Willmar Republican Gazette, (Willmar,
Minnesota) June 21, 1906 describes the possible murder of my
great-great uncle, Hans Halvorson. The murder possibly took place about 1897 in
Franklin County.
I have included the important parts of the article.
"Foul Play Suspected"----- About ten or twelve
years ago Hans Halvorson...of Norway Lake, went to Nebraska, were he resided
about two years, working as a farmer, about half way between Franklin and
Bloomington, and at the end of two years he disappeared and nothing has been
heard of him since..........Before leaving he transferred his property to a
sister. He was a man who never spent money he has taken up at the time he
disappeared and is though that he had some five or six hundred dollars coming.
A diligent search was made but no trace of him dead or alive could be found,
until some time last week a skeleton of a man was found about two or three
miles from the place where Halvorson had worked. When questioned at the time of
the disappearance in regard to what he knew of Halvorson, the farmer stated
that he had taken an axe and left the place, but the report now comes out that
the last seen of him was while at work around the place doing the evening
chores. It seems the framer had never kept any account of the money Halvorson
had taken up, and a settlement had never been made. About a month after Halvorson
disappeared, a farmer was murdered near that place. His body has never been
found, but his wife and son are now serving a life sentence in the Nebraska
state prison for the deed. The relatives of Halvorson in this (New
London) vicinity were informed in regard to the
finding of the skeleton.......The only way they think they can identify the
remains in that Halvorson had very sound strong teeth, and a full set, and this
description corresponds exactly with that of the skeleton. The only doubt there
can be now is that it may be the skeleton of the man who was murdered by his
wife and son.......end.
I would appreciate any info to this murder and the related
persons.

imagreated to this country in 1874 from Norway.

HARRIS - 3 Jun 2001
"Albion Hathaway Harris died June 17, 1896 in Campbell,
Nebraska." I am told he also is buried
there. (Was Campbell always in Franklin
County?) He was born April 5 , 1847
in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia,
Canada. He and his wife,
Annie Gertrude MacLeod, and family migrated to the US
and lived in Ellinwood, Kansas.
Evidently he died from a disease (?what disease?) that
prevented his body from being taken across the state line for burial in Lyons,
Kansas with his wife. Dr. Harris practiced
medicine through Kansas and Nebraska.
Bill Cody was one of his patients and the doctor's twin daughters were named
for Bill Cody's daughters - Alta and Irma. Dr. Harris' education was from
Harvard (1872) and Bellevue Hospital
(1874) in NYC Any information on the location of his grave site, cause of death
or anything else, would be welcome. Judy Shone, Oakville,

HART - 26 Jul 2001
My grandmother Edna Mae Hart was born in Naponee,
Nebraska in the late 1800s. Her mother died
when she was four or five years of age and her father moved them back to Hart, Michigan
where his brother had a lumber mill. She told stories of being born in a sod
hut and she was sung to by an Indian woman. We are wondering if the indian woman was her mother. Was
there an indian tribe nearby
during the 1880s? Edna grew up to have two degrees a nursing degree from Ferris
University and degree of Education
from the University of Michigan.
Any information would be appreciated. - FaithWeavr@aol.com

My grandparents Bryan and Emma COE lived in Franklin,
Nebraska in 1940. It is my understanding
that they operated a cafe there. They lived there with several children; those
children included: Ruby, Raymond, Bryan

MARR, FOLEY - 10 Sep 2001
I am trying to find any family of Winfield Scott Marr. In
the 1910 census it lists his wife as Margaret. My gr.grandmother's
little sister Artie (Artansie) Foley was sent to live
with her uncle Winfield Scott Marr around 1902-1903 after there mother died May 12th 1902. Does anyone know the
connection of how he was her uncle or maybe his wife was her aunt? She came
from Whitewood South Dakota. Winfield was a banker at the Hildreth Bank. He was
born in Iowa as was his wife.
Artie's mother Agnes also was born Iowa
to a Thomas family, not sure of there names. May of
been Henry and Sarah Thomas. Artie also had a uncle
Harvey Thomas born around 1875. Her father was Thomas Foley, no nothing on him
or what happened to him, as Agnes remarried sometime after 1890 to George
Richey in Whitewood. Agnes's youngest son Thomas Foley Jr. was born in Nebraska
somewhere. So believe there was family there. All her other children including
Artie were born in Harlen Kansas.
These are the only names I have to work with, hope someone reconizes
them and can help me! Thanks, vel

DILLARD, YOUNG – 27 Dec 2002
I am trying to locate the farm where my Father (Hadley
Christopher Dillard) worked in the early 1900’s. Here is a snippet of some info
that I have compiled about him so far: “He supposedly was in Hillrose, Colorado
in 1908 working in the sugar beet harvest.
Then he went to Upland, Nebraska
(probably got involved in the wheat harvest?).
When World War I came along he was living there with a family (the Youngs) of 11 children.
He went with a bunch of the Youngs boys to the
draft board to enlist, and they took them all but him. He couldn't pass the physical because of a
bad heart. Every 6 months he would get a
card from the draft board and go back for another physical only to be turned
down again.” Could you help me locate some of the Young’s that might have
remembered him as a hired hand? I would
really appreciate it. Joe G. Dillard, 3535 West Arbor
