Nelson H Dearmont, was born in Rae, Missouri on August 6, 1920, the second child of G L and Grace (Heck) Dearmont. He left this world April 4,2002 on his Burwell ranch at the age of 81.
Nelson was 6 when he rode the train with his mother and four siblings to the end of the tracks, landing them in Burwell, Nebraska, where their father was waiting to introduce them to their new home. Nelson remained in the Burwell area farming a variety of crops and cattle until 1997 when he moved north of O誰eill, Nebraska.
Nelson served his country inWorld War II from driving an ambulance for the 14th Armored Divisiion for the United States Army in Germany and France.
In 1960 Nelson married Mary Jo Clayton in Ord, Nebraska . To this union four children were born. They made their home on the ranch southwest of Burwell in Valley County.
In May of 1997 Nelson was married to Dorothy Graves of O誰eill.. Together they made a home north of town and enjoyed each other痴 company. They took several trips together and fulfilled some of his desires to see certain places. A real highlight was a trip to Las Vegas for the National Rodeo Finals in 2001.
Another travel highlight for Nelson was when Nancy sent Nelson back to Europe to revisit the areas he served in WW II. Sandra got to accompany him on this trip.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy. Daughters, Sandra Erpelding and husband Fred of Kearney, Nancy Suckstorf and Mark of Ainsworth, Tamzen and Chris Jenkins of Burwell. Two grandchildren, Clayton and Mary Jo Suckstorf of Ainsworth and two step grandchildren, John Tetschner of Chadron and karri Tetschner of Burwell.
Nelson was proceded in death by his beloved Mary in 1987, his folks, an infant son, Chris, a brother Robert and sister Viletha.

Nelson Dearmont, 81, of O誰eill, formerly of Burwell, died Thursday, April 4,2002 at his ranch in Burwell.
Funeral services were held 10 am Monday, April 8 at the O誰eill Presbyterian Church and at 2 pm at the Burwell Baptist Church. The Rev Dale Sallans officiated. Burial was in the Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell with military rites provided by American Legion Post 298 of Burwell.
Mr Nelson was born August 6, 1920 at Rae, Missouri to G L and Grace (Heck) Dearmont. He graduated from Burwell High School. He entered the U S Army on December 7,1942. He was a member of the 42nd Armored Division during WWII. He received the Bronze Star.
On July 10, 1960 he married Mary Jo Clayton in Ord. She died October 24, 1987.
On May 10, 1997 he married Dorothy Graves in O誰eill
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 298 and VFW.. He served on the Coop Board of Directors and as a 4-H Leader.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; three daughters and sons-in-law. Sandra and Fred Erpelding of Kearney, Nancy and Mark Suckstorf of Ainsworth, Tamzen and Chris Jenkins of Burwell. Two stepdaughters, Diane O辿ern of Okoboji, Iowa and Cheryl Mueller of Grand Island. Two step sons, Norman Graves of Omaha and Blaine Graves of O誰eill. Two grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, three sisters, Helen Fischer and Ruby Percell of Burwell and Ivy Everhart of Omaha, three brothers, Alvin of St Paul, John of Rose and Charles of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jo, an infant son, Chris, a brother, Robert and a sister, Viletha.
