The NEGenWeb Project is a collection of state and county sites offered to you by the many volunteers who are dedicated to helping promote free genealogical research in Nebraska. Follow the links to the left to visit the County Sites List, the Nebraska Resource Center where you will find more information on researching in Nebraska, the Nebraska OnLine Library with many books, maps and publications that have been transcribed for the web. Don't forget the Basic Helps section of the Resource Center for help in finding out how to find Nebraska Records (State vitals, census, etc.). Although it is not 'required', our State Resource Center and many of our County sites include transcription projects to help in your research. Please take the time to find out just what may or may not be available online on our State and County sites:
OUR concern for the future too quickly casts a shadow
over the things of the past. People, generally, do not care so much for the
things of the past, its achievements and failures, as they do about the
opportunities and allurements of the future. However anxiously we may be
rushing on for the things of the future, let us understand that we cannot
detach ourselves from the past. Every one filleth a niche in the bulwarks of
time, and each generation buildeth a stepping-stone between the two
eternities.

About the NEGenWeb and USGenWeb Projects
- including our special projects.
The NEGenWeb Project was formed June, 15, 1996, when Dale Schneider created the Nebraska Genealogy Project as a part of the USGenWeb Genealogy Project. At that time, there was very little available on the web for those who were researching genealogy in Nebraska. Over the next year, volunteers were recruited to coordinate the webpages for each county. These volunteers were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the county webpages, which would include listing information on where to look in that county for genealogical research. Contact the volunteer shown on the county page if you have a desire to help or add your data to the database. You may notice a message on a county page indicating it is available for adoption. If you would like to adopt one of these counties, please contact the current coordinator of the page, whose name is listed on their county site, or the State Coordinator.
