Mother, I still see your face
Smiling through your tears
The face I've loved, more everyday
Through all my eighteen years
And Father, what is that I see
Could it be a tear?
Upon your strong and weathered face
A mix of pride and fear?
For you have loved me all my life
And raised me to be proud
I stood before you, a man that day
Among the cheering crowd
I heard the whistle of the train
Flying down the track
It came to take me far away
And it shall bring me back
There is a place upon the hill
So peaceful and serene
Where loved ones rest among the stones
Now they're awaiting me
My life I give for freedom's call
My home, forever free
And it will not have been in vain
