Joel C. ASH married 2 Nov 1902 Phoebe WOODARD at Grand Island, Hall Co, Nebraska. Joel Clark ASH was born 9 Jun 1873 in Nebraska or Iowa and he died sometime after 1912 in Toppenish, Yakima Co, Washington. He was the son of Adam C. ASH and Mary Elizabeth RADABAUGH-CLARK [Adam ASH's 2nd marriage]. Joel C. ASH m 2 Nov 1902 in Grand Island, Hall Co, Nebraska, Carrie "Phoebe" WOODARD, dau. of Silas WOODARD and Carrie Bell KELLOGG. Joel C. and "Phoebe" WOODARD-ASH had 4 children:

BRITTIN/BRITTON

Nathan T. BRITTIN (also BRITTON), born OH, married Hannah COLWELL in DeWitt Co. IL. Hannah was daughter of Benjamin L. Colwell, also of OH, IL and by 1880, also of Hall County NE. Nathan T. BRITTIN resided 1/2 mile South of Wood River, Hall County NE 1871. He was Postmaster in 1870's and again abt. 1890. 1st Board of Trustees at incorporation of Wood River. Prior to coming to Hall Co. NE, he served the Union Army in Co. B, 107th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Needing names of children or any information on descendents of Nathan.

Have much information to share with any descendents.

BROWN

Hial H. MENTER married Nettie BROWN (parents T C BROWN & Nancy CURRIER) in Nov. 1879. They are on 1880 census for Alda, Hall Co. Hial was earlier married to Chariety BROWN, mother of George Herbert MENTER. Chariety died in Jan 1879, leaving my grandfather George as a 6 month infant. Were these ladies sisters? Was George MENTER raised by his grandparents, Gilbert & Laura DAWLEY MENTER? Hial had a brother, Willard and sister, Mary who married Charles REDFIELD. Can find no trace of Hial after 1891 in Howard Co. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am a grandson of John and Elizabeth CONWAY, who died in 1900 and 1906, buried in City Cemetery in Grand Island, NE. I would love to get in touch with living descendants of them. I am 80 year old son of their 23rd child, Anna Frances CONWAY, born in Conn. in 1879. Please reply.

GILLHAM

Searching for info and descendents of the William F. GILLHAM (1856-1929) & Jennie (LANE) Gillham (1860-1936) family from La Porte Co., IN. Moved to NE circa 1879 and resided in Polk and Nance counties before moving to Hall Co. around 1910. Children: Arthur, Floyd, George and Pearl. Arthur mar. Eva ROSS, Floyd mar. Lillian DENMAN. George mar. Elsia HARRY, Pearl mar. David W. ALEXANDER. Jennie died in Grand Island and is buried in the City cememtery.

The following are children of my Ggrandparents, Cortes Birt and Eunice Amanda (TRAVIS) HANDY. The family moved from Muskegon, MI to Grand Island in 1877. Cortes died/buried in Hood River, OR in 1905; Eunice died in Hastings, NE in 1914 & is buried in the Grand Island City cemetery. Herbert HANDY, b. 10/23/1888 in Grand Island, NE, Bertha Belle (HANDY) KELLEY, b. 04/15/1877 in Grand Island, NE or Muskegon, MI; married Claude KELLEY. Ida May (HANDY) COX, b. 02/23/1873 in Muskegon, MI; married Ed(ward?) COX. Edith Pearle (HANDY) DAVIS, b. 02/21/1882 in Grand Island, NE; married James DAVIS Thanks for any help.

HARPER

John HARPER and Lucinda GANO were married at Lane, DeWitt County, IL in 1868. All their children were born in DeWitt County before the family moved to Nebraska in 1893. They first settled in Cameron Township, then in Wood River. John drove the hearse at Wood River for about 18 years. Children were: Emma, m. Gotlieb RIESLAND; Samuel, m. Fanny NORTH; Nora, m. Ira BRUNNER; Bertha, m. Andrew STONE; John Edward, m. Hester HOON.

HARRIS

Seeking for descendents of George W. and Thelda (MILEY) HARRIS who lived in Hall County, Nebraska in the 1920's and 1930's. Thelda was born in SE Missouri ca 1893 and met and married George HARRIS there. Their son, Leland H. HARRIS was born 11 Nov. 1903 in Sikeston, MO and served in WWI out of Hall County, NE.
