My name is Brenda Lawless Daniel and I am the coordinator of Hayes County, Nebraska. If you have special interest in this county or information you are willing to share with others, please contact me and volunteer.
5 Dec 1998, NEW co-host for Hayes Co! Joan Lauenroth
Contact Joan via email at <email@example.com> or write via snail mail to: Hayes County Courthouse Clerk, P.O. Box 370, Hayes Center, Ne 69032.
Joan will do lookups "within reason". Send Self Addressed Stamped Envelope and Dates if possible. Courthouse fees are $1.00 per photocopy and $10.00 per certified copy.
Available at this time: Marriage records, naturalization and some birth records, plus cemetery records in Hayes County are being extracted. Records not kept in her county office will take a little more time - probate, wills, etc. She is also in the process of compiling old obits from early Hayes County Newspapers and McCook Gazettes (larger local paper).
Early records are not always complete - because of distance, no doctor available, or lack of knowledge that a record was required.

About the NEGenWeb Project
NEGenWeb was formed in June 1996, when Dale Schneider created the Nebraska Genealogy Project as a part of the USGenWeb Genealogy Project. At that time, there was very little available on the web for those who were researching genealogy in Nebraska . Over the next year, volunteers were recruited to coordinate the web pages for each county. These volunteers were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the county web pages, which would include listing information on where to look in that county for genealogical research. Contact the volunteer shown on the county page if you have a desire to help or add your data to the database. You may notice a message on a county page indicating it is available for adoption. If you would like to adopt one of these counties, please contact the current coordinator of the page, whose name is listed on their county site, or the State Coordinator.
