I am searching Johan Jacob Mangold FARNER. Although he may be listed as John Jacob FARNER. He may have dropped some of his european name. He and his second wife Verena Gosseman FARNER came from Zurich, Switzerland.
They say he came into the country on Feb 8, 1876. But this is family oral history and has not been verified yet. If you know where to write off for this info, please advise me. They say there may be some sort of "letter of intent" I could obtain recorded in the county. Is this true?
I have found the family listed on the 1880 census. The children listed were, Sophet/1865, Aggie/1867, Anna/1867, Bernhart/1871 and Mary Jane/1873. (in birth order)
John died in Stuart, Nebraska and buried in town. I'm seeking info on what the name of the main cemetery in town is called.
Mary Jane Farner married Jack Holcombe. They ranched in Keith Co, Neb. The ranch is now under water when the government built a large lake on the surrounding property that took in several ranches.
If you have any info on this family or related to it, please contact me.

This is all very new to me, I just started to trace my family roots. I'm starting in Holt county because my grandmother, now deceased, left me some 100 letters or so from when she was 12. They are from 1920, and 1921. They are adressed to Emmet, and then the next year to O'Neil. The letters are about winning a contest for selling news paper subscriptions to "Cappers Farmer"? Some are when they wrote back to say they had seen Ada STORTS, had won a pony in the Kansas farmer.
I've searched thru many census records, and have yet to find the surname STORTS.
If this name rings any bell for you I would be grateful for any information that you could give me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I am looking for a Yenn family that I believe may have lived in O'Neil, NE. Only information I have is that Anthony Yenn married Apolinia Schamm or Shumm from NE on July 28, 1891. They married at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Riverside, Ia and her residence was listed as NE. Anthony Yenn had one son and one daughter who I believe left Iowa and moved to O'Neil, NE. Later two grandsons (Louis Ruppenkamp and Joseph Ruppenkamp) also moved and both married sisters by the last name of Wrede. Anthony died on Oct. 26, 1895. I don't know where he is buried, but do know it was in NE. His wife at the time was listed in his will as a resident of NE, no town was stated.
The son who traveled to O'Neil with him was Athanas Yenn and the daughter was Harriet (Yenn) Streb. I later found Harriet Streb and her husband in Mo. in 1900. I would like to find Anthony's place of death and Cemetery and also Athanas. Athanas was married to a Dressy or Effie Schultz in Riverside, Iowa on Feb. 5, 1881. I would also like to know if they had any children.
