I am seeking information about Agnes Cassidy, Father Michael Cassidy ,and Mary Cullen.
These people all lived in Inman Township in Holt County according to the 1910 Census. My father was placed as an orphan train rider with Agnes Cassidy in 1903 from an orphan train. Father Cassidy was the sponsor for Agnes Csassidy and Mary Cullen was Father Cassidy's niece and living with him in 1910. Her birth place s listed as New Jersey. Agnes Cassidy is listed as a widow and a farmer. Two other children are listed; Helen Cassidy daughter age 19' and Thomas Cassidy son age 17. I believe that the Lawrence Cassidy who is 10 is my father. I would like to find out more about his life in Nebraska and would appreciate any information or assistance anyone can give me. Thank you.

I am searching for information on a Helen Cassidy, sister -in-law of John Walsh. Helen worked in a store in Gratton or Grotten , NE. she is listed as being a resident of Holt County, Inman Township on the 1900 Census. I am seeking information about my father, who was an orphan train rider. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you Margaret Warne

My father was an orphan train rider who lived in Nebraska from 1903 until 1913. During this time he lived with a family named Cassidy. who at the time he was placed, lived in Holt County, Nebraska. During these years, he went by the name of Lawrence Cassidy. I am sure that he attended school and church while there but have been unable to locate any thing. If anyone has school records or photos of school children of this period and place I would appreciate hearing from them. I would like to find some record of his life in Nebraska.
Thank you
Margaret Warne

I am searching for information about the family of James COOK. He was born 1840 in Canada and died between 1884 and 1887 either Nebraska or Iowa. He married Mary E. Stevens c. 1865 in Wisconsin?. She was born April 1845 in New York and died (prob 1931) in Iowa. Mary was married to Samuel Gray on March 9, 1887 in Pottawattamie county, Iowa. They were living in Newburg, Jasper county, Iowa by 1900. Samuel was born in 1855 Pennsylvania. I believe that Mary was married a third time to an ? Stone before 1931.

chn of James and Mary are:
1. Rosa b. 1866 Wisc m. ? Parker, living in Sioux City Iowa in 1936
2. Dora b. 1868 Wisc m. ? Cox, living in Green City, Missouri in 1936
3. Edward b. 1870, Iowa. He was living in Sioux City, Iowa in 1936
4. Blanche L. b. 9/26/1873 Iowa. m. Walter Scott Ratekin 6/5/1889 prob IA he died in 1934 Sioux City, Ia and she was still living there in 1936.
5. Sylvia E. b. 10/16/1876 Redbird, Holt, NE m. Ervin Davis before 1893 probably Iowa. She was in Illinois by 1900. She was in Marshall county, Iowa in 1910 and married 8/1910 to Edmond O'Brien
6. Walter E. b. 6/25/1879 Holt county, NE m. Mattie Mae Farber 1906 in Marshalltown, Iowa, living with mother and stepfather in Jasper county in 1900. He died in Marshalltown, Iowa in 1936.
7. Charles b. 10/1881 Nebraska, he was living with mother and stepfahter in Jasper county, Iowa in 1900 and in Minnesota in 1936.
8. Albert b. 2/7/1884 Nebraska, he was with mother and stepdad in Jasper county in 1900 and in Marshalltown, Ia in 1936.
9. there is said to be one more but don't know for sure.

James and family arrived in Holt county between 1873 and 1876. I am looking for his death place. He died sometime after Albert's birth in 1884. He probably died in Nebraska, but I don't know if it was in Holt county. The 1880 census has the family in the Paddock Precint.

I believe that James maybe the son of Joel Cook and Elizabeth Swatman of Ontario, Canada and later of Grant county, Wisc. Their son Daniel has the same migration pattern as James and was living a few households away from James in the 1880 census.

Please anyone with information about this family, please contact me. you can see more details about some of the family on my webpage at: homepages.msn.com/librarylawn/soffe-fl/

I am researching my HOWARD family that lived in O'Neil, NE, after 1870. My great-grandfather was Samuel Burchell Howard. His wife was Bridget (nee Shanahan). They later moved to Omaha.

I just found the Nebraska State (Holt) Gazetteer on this site and found three listings that interest me. They are:

Howard, E. B. O'Neil
Howard, John O'Neil
Howard, S.B. O'Neil

I'm wondering if these three were brothers. Have not had a chance to look up the census.

Any info on these or any Howards in Holt County would be appreciated.

I'm searching for information on Frank and Margaret(aka Maggie) McKay. They lived in Stuart from the mid to late 1800's and then moved to Madison about 1911. While in Stuart they ran the three story hotel, Northwestern, I believe. They had a daughter, Ina McKay, who married Frank Glasner, a newspaper man. Ina died soon after giving birth to a daughter named Daisy in 1895 (birthplace unknown). Frank Glasner was unable to care for Daisy and left her in the capable hands of his in-laws, Frank and Margaret(Maggie) McKay. Any information on Frank and Margaret McKay and whatever became of Frank Glasner would be greatly appreciated.
