Spirit Springs
(Waconda) is 3 mi. East of Cawker City, Kana. It
is a little lake on top of a noll in the
head of a can you up from Solomon river. It's about 50 ft across.
It is nearly as high
as the surounding country. Water is salt & mineral -- yellowish
color.
It seeps thru the sides and runs down to the solomin river. Doesn't
freeze.
The lake mound is hard stone. Like lava formation. Carving
& breaking off on sides.
Clay dirt around on all sides. Big hotel & Sanatorium there.
( Sanatorium = An institution for the treatment of chronic deseases)**
