Hello! I was born in Belvidere in 1935 to Evelyn Niblack and Harry West. My maternal grandmother, Ethel Ellen CROSS was born July 28,1892 in Powell. Her parents are both buried in Fairbury, NE (I think). He was Clinton Thomas Cross, d Aug 10, 1926 in Nebraska; she was Annie Eliza Nixon Cross, d Mar 16, 1939, in Fairbury. Do you have any information to share that might tell me where these kinfolks are buried? I haven't tried other states, but Nebraska's genealogy site is terrific. Makes me proud! By the way, I now live in Citrus Heights, California, near Sacramento. Thx. Jean Edwards

If you would like I can send information for the Fielder Families of both Gage and Jefferson Counties and their related families. Let me know how you would like it sent. I can send the information as soon as I corolated the information I got while I was there in Aug. There is one thing that the Jefferson County people can do, to help those of us out here in California. In your wonderful public library, you have cemetery lists. Can someone there, scan them and put them on Cemeteries Online, so others can use them. They also have a list of cemeteries and internments for Washington County, KS that was very helpful to me. But now I find I need to see more of it and more of the Jefferson County cemeteries and internments. With my limited funds, I can not return for at least two years, nor can I afford to get someone to do the lookups. Especially, since I am not sure where and who I need to look up. I have other fiends here in Calilfornia that have people in both states that they need to find. Some of them will never be able to travel to NE or KS. So you see how important this information can be, to them. Let me know, what is happening about this. I enjooyed my time in Fairbury and Diller(Jefferson CO.) Beatrice and Wymore (Gage Co) and Hollenberg and Washington (Washington County),KS. I hope to return in two or three years. Again if I can do a GEDCOM for the Fielder Family and do any look-ups here in Chico, Butte, CA., I would be happy to. Martha R, Stephenson < mrs@cmc.net >

You site ranks up there with the best of them. My father, Clarence Lott, Sr.,was born in Fairbury, NE, and spent the first few years of his childhood there before his parents, Fred Lott and Susan Henrietta Deeter, moved to Graham County, Kansas. Dad is still alive and celebrates his 90th birthday on May 15, 2001 and still fondly recalls his memory of the old Lott homestead just NE of Rock Creek Station.

Found this site while trying to track down a family legend - - just that our Iowa relatives were part of the same family as Clel Miller of the Northfield, Minn., raid James Gang fame. Great-grandparents are William and Anna Miller. Some of his nine children were born in Handcock County, Iowa. We have another ancestor by the same name, "Clel Miller," who was known for his coronet playing. --------------------------------------------------

Thank you, for a great web site. Have visited the Fairbury Cemetery years ago but missed seeing grave of a young boy who died after being hit by a train. Some thought he died in OK., now know it was NE. Eva Goeken

The Jefferson County web page is beautiful--but where are the class lists that were once posted here? Family members were in some of these Fairbury High School and other lists, and I wanted to check them again.

excellent website...thank you for all your hard work. My great-grandparents came to Fairbury from Illinois in the 1880's--and my grandfather, William Neville was born there along with all three of his children- William, Joseph and Margaret. I spent summers with my grandparents and have many fond memories of Fairbury.

Need Info on Charlie Harris b. Dec 8, 1874 d. Dec 9, 1963 and Henrietta Harris b. Sept 26, 1876 d. Dec 27, 1962. both buried Fairbury Cem. Went to methodist church in Fairbury. They lived at 201 west 4th street in Fairbury.Would Like Obits. Heard stories that the lived near the Kansas/Nebraska border and that the indians would go through their farm and stay overnight and come to the house for food. And one time some other indians were along and wanted to kill them but the ones that had been there many times wouldn't let them because they fed them and let them have apples out of their orchard. Thank you for your time.Lois
