On last Tuesday morning John Jones died at the home of his son by the same name, eight miles northwest of Fairbury. The deceased was more commonly known as "Fiddler" Jones, which name originated in his peculiar affection for his violin. During the latter years of his life when he became too old to work it was his almost constant companion, and although he was past 84 years of age and weak with disease, he played over an hour on his favorite instrument of the Sunday preceding his death. He celebrated the Fourth in Fairbury, and while here gave the undertaker some instructions regarding his funeral, which he realized was not far distant. His ailment was Bright's disease. The remains were shipped Thursday morning to his old home in Iowa where interment will take place.

The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Orn Junker, age 7 months and 3 days, died Thursday, December 31, after an illness beginning at it's birth. The funeral was held Saturday. The family live northwest of Fairbury.
