What a wonderful experience to come to Keith County and Nebraska itself for the first time. People were so friendly and helpful, it took me back to my childhood, when the world seemed less hurried, smaller, and much more friendly. I just love drinking a cup of coffee out of the mug I bought at Mac's in Brule, and think back to the wonderful people we met in Nebraska. It's nice to see the project coming along so nicely. Message: 18 Name: Claudia Carvajal Homepage: Email: raulcar@mail.internet.com.mx Date: Thu Mar 22 22:07:05 2001 Comments: Thank you Susan for all your generous help. When I wrote to the Keith County List I never expected to crash through all my brick walls. You had all the information that completes my Foster family research in Nebraska. My father, Capt. Dale Eugene Cochran was born and grew up in Genoa, Nance County. That is where the Foster family arrived from Canada: Eight sisters and one brother. Thank you so much! I had a Christmas message from Fae Christensen which mentioned you web page. I am impressed. My greatgrandmother and her family homesteaded in Paxton on the Lone Tree Ranch which was located where the Sunderland Canal is now. We have visited there and done considerable research on the Palmer, Mason, Rice family. You are doing a great job! I am impressed. Phyllis M. Message: 14 Name: Kathy Thibedeau Homepage: Email: kathyt@ruraltel.net Date: Sun Sep 10 17:24:32 2000 Comments: I have enjoyed viewing your web page even though I have found no one researching any of my family members - the Duffey's. My Great Aunt, Emma Duffey married Leon Thomas who was a Keith county commissioner for many years. It is nice to find information on the county. I am looking forward to the addition of the cemetery listings. Thank You for all of the time and effort you are putting into this site. I will be watching for the completion of the Ogallala Cemetary links, as my grandfather and his father lived in the area, and g g grandfather may be burried there. My great grandfather homesteaded in Keith County, six miles southeast of Ogallala, on the "south table" of the South Platte River. Two sets of my grandparents were Charter members of St. John's Lutheran Church (LSMS) south of Roscoe, NE. Anyone with questions about this church might email me with St. John's in the Subject line. I believe I found my G-Father listed in the Farmers List for 1890-91, his name was John Peter Saderlund and had emigrated with two brothers from Sweden. On ebros first name was Andrew, second unknown. They had changed from Swedish family name of Hojer/Hoyer to Saderlund, Soderlund and Sutherlund/Sutherlin. If anyone has more info on him or his bros pleas email me. Message: 9 Name: Rhonda Spears Homepage: Greer & Spears Email: rhondz@yahoo.com Date: Sun Jul 2 11:55:08 2000 Comments: Great site. I'm really interested in the cemeteries in Ogallala I recently found an uncle thanks to the work being done for Perkins County. I hope to do the same in Keith County. My interest is in surnames MILLARD and BORDNER and WINDSOR in Ogallala early 1920's. I have been living in San Jose, California, most of my life. Many of my ancestors are Nebraskans and Iowans and my great- great-grandmother was a Keith. She married my great-great- grandfather from Richardson Co. I was wondering how Keith Co. got it's name. Would you happen to know? Thank you, Colleen Ray Message: 3 Name: Beverly Barnt Homepage: Email: bjbm@omniglobal.net Date: Tue Apr 18 14:06:59 2000 Comments: GOOD WORK, KEEP IT UP. I am not very computer literate and the comments box stumped me for awhile. My husband says that your end will take care of fitting this message in the box. My grandmother was born in Ogallala in about 1890. The family was farming and lived in a sod house. They returned to Wisc. in about 1900. I love to hear about the history of this town in that era.
