NEBRRoots-L [Nebraska Roots]

Welcome to the NEBRRoots mailing list! This list was established for genealogy researchers to communicate with each other for assistance limited to the State of Nebraska. Genealogy includes requests for assistance with names, families, geography and records about Nebraska. Political discussions are considered "off topic" and are not allowed. Courtesy to one another is also required.

When subscribed in "mail mode", you will receive every posting made to NEBRRoots as a separate e-mail. When you are subscribed in "digest mode" you will receive several postings combined and sent to you together as a single large message. The directions on how to change to digest mode are given below.

if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe, just send the command "subscribe" to NEBRRoots-L-request@rootsweb.com.

How to subscribe. Send a message to

NEBRRoots-L-request@rootsweb.com

that contains (in the body of the message) the command

subscribe

and no additional text.

How to unsubscribe. Send a message to

NEBRRoots-L-request@rootsweb.com

that contains (in the body of the message) the command

unsubscribe

and no additional text.

How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to NEBRRoots-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to NEBRRoots-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests.

How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again.

5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to NEBRRoots-L@rootsweb.com. It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both.

For your verification, a transcript of the original subscription request will be sent to you.

Archives. All messages sent on this list are archived and you can search the archives for a specific message or browse them, going from one message to another.

NEBRHeritage [Nebraska Heritage]

The Nebraska Heritage List is a little broader in scope than the NEBRRoots List. In addition to genealogy research, it allows discussion of historical topics which have a Nebraska connection. On occasion a Nebraska Trivia Game is/has been played on it.

Leave the subject line blank and type the word subscribe on the first line of the body. Nothing else should appear in the body of the message. Turn off all signatures.

NENUCKOL [Nebraska Nuckolls County]

There is a general Nuckolls County e-mail list. Its purpose is to concentrate genealogy research specifically to Nuckolls County. To subscribe to it, send a message to:
