This book, published in November 1937, is a compilation of historical sketches originally published in The York Republican newspaper. The book was reprinted in 1976 by the York County Historical Association, and is now out of print.

These stories give an excellent insight into the pioneer days of York County, Nebraska. Many names in the stories were written phonetically and/or misspelled. We have have corrected known spelling errors for this online version, but put the original text inside squared brackets.
