Abbott, Tobias W. - Proprietor general store, Musgrave Harbour. Born December 24, 1875 at Doting Cove, the son of Elias and Typhena Abbott. Educated at Public School, Bonavista and Methodist College, St. John's. Entered Bonavista Public School in 1887, and Methodist College in 1891. Left college in 1894 and employed by Hon. P. Templeman, conducting a branch business. In 1904 started general store. Married October 25, 1902 to Eliza Burry. Children: Cecil R. Abbott; Randolph C. Abbott; Barbara Jean Abbott and Kathleen T. Abbott. Adams, Charles - Lieutenant Colonel Canadian Army Service Corps. Born September 6, 1875 at St. John's, the son of Thomas Adams and Jane (Roberts) Adams. Educated at Newfoundland Methodist College and Bishop's College, Montreal. President Adams Chemical Company Ltd, Managing Director Adams Chemical Company Ltd. Married September 6, 1898 to Agnes Caroline Hesse. Children: Muriel, Winifred, Grace, Dorothy, Frederick, Marjory and Phyllis. Alderdice, Hon. Frederick Charles. M.L.C. - Born November 10, 1872, Belfast, Ireland, son of William and Rachael Katherine (Monroe) Alderdice. Educated at the Methodist College, Belfast, Ireland. Vice-President and Managing Director Colonial Cordage Co. Ltd. in 1922; Director Imperial Tobacco Co., Ltd.; Director Newfoundland Manufacturers' Mutual Insurance Co. Appointed member Legislative Council 1924. Married October 25, 1900 to Harriett Carter. Children: Four. Allardyce, His Excellency Sir William Lamond, Knight Commander of St. Michael and St. George, Knight of Grace of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Governor and Commander in Chief of Newfoundland and Labrador - Born November 14, 1861, near Bombay, India; the son of Colonel James and Georgina Dickson (Abbott) Allardyce. Educated at Aberdeen and Oxford Military College, England. Married August 14, 1895 to Constance Angel Green and in 1920 to Elsie Elizabeth Goodfellow. Died in London, England 1930. Allardyce, Her Excellency Lady Elsie Elizabeth - Born June 7, 1878, London, England, daughter of James Farquharson and Elizabeth Martyn (Smith) Stewart. Founder and Honorary President Newfoundland Outport Nursing and Industrial Association, 1922 devised by Lady Harris and Evelyn Cave Hiscock. She also helped to begin the Girl Guide organization in Newfoundland in November 1923. Married, first (the late) Adam Archibald George Goodfellow; second marriage to Sir William Lamond Allardyce. Children: Adam George Stewart Goodfellow. She departed from Newfoundland after her husband's term expired in 1928. Died in 1962. Anderson, Hugh Abercrombie M.B.E. - Born February 10, 1890 at St. John's; son of Hon. John and Amelia (Murray) Anderson. Educated at Bishop Feild College, St. John's, Edinburgh Academy, and at Paris and Switzerland. Entered firm of John Anderson in 1909 until February 1915, when he went overseas and made several attempts to enlist in the Imperial forces, being unsuccessful on account of eyesight. Subsequently went into Newfoundland Pay and Record Office, London, and received commission as Second Lieutenant in 1916 and Lieutenant in 1917; Captain in 1918; and assistant Military Secretary 1918. Paid brief visit to Newfoundland Regiment at Ypres in 1916. Awarded Military M.B.E. by King George at Buckingham Palace in 1919; and twice mentioned by Secretary of State for War for services. Rejoined firm John Murray Anderson in 1919 and went to USA in 1921 to join his brother in theatrical business. Managing Director of the Anderson-Milton School of the Theatre in New York City. An occasional author. Married July 17, 1917 to Sibyl Irene Bartlett. Resided in New York City. Anderson, Janet Agnes - Born January 5, 1896, London, England; daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Herbert Anderson of Calcutta, India. Educated at Cheltenham, England. Child welfare worker. Anderson, Hon. John, M.L.C. - Born January 27, 1855, Saltcoats, Scotland, the son of John and Agnes (King) Anderson. Educated at Saltcoats Academy, Scotland. Arrived in Newfoundland April 3, 1875. Married twice; November 18, 1884 to Amelia Murray and December 25, 1917 to Klymea March. Children: First marriage, two sons. Anderson died on November 8, 1930.
Anderson, John Murray, Artist, Writer, Theatrical Producer - Born September 20, 1886 at St. John's, son of Hon. John and Amelia (Murray) Anderson. Educated at Bishop Feild College, St. John's; Edinburgh Academy; Lausanne University, Switzerland. Married in 1914 to Genevieve Lyon and later went to Arizona for sake of wife's health. She died there in 1916. Died 1954.

Visiting Surgeon, The General Hospital, Police Surgeon. Married 1904 to Margaret Goodwillie of Elgin, Scotland. Children: Thomas, Millicent, Florence. Andrews, Nathan - Born September 15, 1864, Salmon Cove, Conception Bay; the son of Nathan and Levina (Wells) Andrews. Educated at Salmon Cove Married October 14, 1890 to Alfreda Martin (deceased) and January 10, 1921 married Alice Maud Mercer. Six children. Highlights:
Angel, Frederick William,B.Sc., A.M.E.L.C., M.B.E. - Born in 1874, St. John's; the third son of James and Melvina (Percy) Angel. Educated at Methodist College and McGill University. Married 1910 to Mary Elizabeth Bartlett. Four daughters and one son. Made Member of the British Empire for his war effort when he established the Newfoundland Shell Company where calibre shells were produced. Died 1937.
Antle, Thomas - Born November 8, 1858, Brigus, Conception Bay; the son of Thomas and Jane (Bussey) Antle. Educated at Brigus. Began fishing at 17 from Brigus to Labrador. Entered partnerhsip with Jas. Antle & Bros, 1880 and in 1895 terminated partnership and started in lumber business, working with Exploits River Lumber & Pulp Co., until 1901. 1901 started own business, and later passed over management of business to his son. Accepted position of Collector of Customs, Botwood. Married 1886 to Mary Jane Mugford. Children - four sons. Ash, Leonard, Notary Public, Commissioner of Supreme Court -Born August 27,1880, Carbonear, NF; son of William and Caroline (Evans) Ash. Educated at Carbonear Elementary School and at Toronto,ON. Ashbourne, Thomas Gordon William, B.A., M.H.A. - Born December 4,1894, Twillingate; the son of William and Lucy Goodison (Linfield) Ashbourne. Educated at Methodist College, St. John's and Victoria College, University of Toronto graduated with of Bachelor of Art degree. Married June 16,1925 to Annie Bernice Roberts. Children: one son.
Aylward, Michael F. - Born September 17, 1869, St. John's; son of William P. and Ellen Aylward. Educated at St. Bonaventure's College. Unmarried in 1927.
