N. H. Service.
Aug. 29, 1832, Joseph Burley, of Franklin, Merrimack
County, New Hampshire, aged 77 years, deposed:
that he enlisted in May, 1775, at Epping, N.
H., in a company of Infantry under Capt. Norris, Col. Poor, marched to
Winter Hill, in June, 1775, and served until Jan. 1, 1776;
that in January, 1776 he re-enlisted at Epping,
N. H., under Capt. Lane; marched to Charlestown, Mass., and served out
his term-3 months;
that in the summer of 1776 he again enlisted
at Epping, N. H., marched to Peekskill, N. Y.; was stationed there and
at Fishkill, N. Y., until the expiration of his term-3 months;
that in January, 1778 he enlisted at Epping,
N. H., as sergeant, under Capt. Worthen, Col. Peabody; marched to Rhode
Island; was in Sullivan's retreat, remaining within sight of the island
under Gen. Sullivan's command, until his term of service-one year- expired.

July 6, 1832, Samuel Haley, of Epping, N. H.,
aged 73 years, testified to service with Burley under Capt. Norris, in
1775; Captain's Lane and Gordon, in 1776.

Aug. 17, 1832, Joshua Richardson, of Canaan,
N. H., aged 74 years, testified to service in same regiment with Sergeant
Burley, in 1778, and being discharged at same time at Narragansett.

Claim allowed Dec. 6, 1832 for service as private
and sergeant.
Dec. 26, 1840, "the executor of Joseph Burley"
was paid arrears of pension due from Sept. 4, 1838 to Oct. 6, 1838, date
of his death, according to certificate from Second Comptroller of the Treasury.
