                                                       Meeting of April 25, 2005

                                                                             Senior Center

 

President Dan Fleetham Sr. opened the meeting at 7:05 p.m.

 

      Members Present: President Dan Fleetham Sr., Historian and Corresponding Secretary Donna  Zani-Dunkerton, Reginald Barney, Treasurer, Jean Rickard, Anne Neily, Ed. Lary Chuck Townsend,  Pete and Betty Cummings,  and Dan Fleetham Jr.  The minutes of the February 28th meeting were read and accepted.

The Treasurers report was read and accepted.  Treasurers report was read and accepted.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Correspondence was received from the Sanbornton Historical Document Foundation, De Wolfe and Wood-Antiquarian; Elijah B. A. Monroe regarding information on genealogy; Newsletter of Historical Research Societies of N.H.; The Associate; StackÕs Numanists- Coins Medals and Paper.

Four letters relating  to Canaan from the Estate of  Ernest Blodgett were sent by the Charlestown Historical Society.  They were given to Donna who will put them in the Museum and send the Society a Thank You Note.

Dan Fleetham Sr. read the grant request to the Mascoma Savings Foundation for the Snow Roller Project.  We should hear back from them sometime in June.

 

NEW BUSINESS: 

Donna  Zani-Dunkerton and John Rickard attended the Historical Commission Meeting this past month and got the plan approval for the structure and materials for the Snow Roller shelter.  A brief discussion ensued concerning putting up a sign explaining the snow roller based upon an article Donna had published in the local newspaper.

The Art show during Canaan Old Home Weekend was discussed.

 

Dan Fleetham Sr. led a discussion on looking into an Art Show based around Lumen Winter and the drawings he did in Canaan during the summer of 1961.

A summer meeting was also discussed with more details at our next regular meeting.

Dan Fleetham Sr. read info on e-bay where someone is selling a CD of the Wallace History for $15.99.

 

Dan Fleetham Jr. suggested that we should look into making a CD copy of the History to sell at the Museum. He suggested that a Òvalue addedÓ one containing old photos as well as copies of the Canaan Bicentennial Booklet might sell well.   Chuck Townsend offered to look into this with Dan and report back at our June Meeting.

 

The meeting closed at 8:50 PM
