                        Canaan Historical Society Meeting of April 24 2006

 

 

The meeting was called to order by President Dan Fleetham at 7:00 p.m. in the Mascoma Senior Center.

 

Members present: President Dan Fleetham Sr., Vice-President John Ricard, Treasurer Reg Barney, Secretary Carol Bergeron, Historian Donna Dunkerton and members: Pete & Betty Cummings, Anne Neily, Jean Ricard, Debbie Crowell, Ed & Jackie Lary, Patsy Carter, Dan Fleetham, Jr.

 

The minutes of the Feb. 27, 2006 meeting were read and accepted.

TreasurerÕs report was read and accepted.

Correspondence:  Dan reports that the New Hampshire Historical Society has paid dues for two years to the Canaan Historical Society.  Dan sent a note to Ruth Whitehouse, Colebrook NH thanking her for the donation of a Canaan postcard.  It was suggested by Debbie that an insurance salesman's business solicitation be turned over to Dana Haley, town administrator.

 

Old Business: John inquired if there has been additional work on photographing Canaan barns.  Carol responded ÒNoÓ. 

Donna said that Aaron will erect the snow roller shelter when possible.

 

New Business: Discussion of meetings to be held: Oct, Jan, Feb, Apr, June.

Patsy would like to pursue getting John Moody to be a guest speaker on Abenaki Indians.   If a program is given in the Old Meeting House, perhaps we could use the townÕs sound system and cover the windows with black plastic.

 

Motion by John Ricard, seconded by Donna, to allocate up to $200 for a guest speaker.  Motion carried.

Patsy will try to arrange for a guest speaker this summer.

John noted that the Old Home Day dates should be posted on the town web site.

Dan is president of the OHD committee and John Dow will be the speaker.

 

Our next meeting is June 24th.
