Historical Society Meeting of April 23, 2007
The meeting was called to order by President Dan Fleetham at
7:00 p.m. in the Mascoma Senior Center.
Members present: President
Dan Fleetham Sr., Vice-President John Ricard, Treasurer Reg Barney, Recording
Secretary Carol Bergeron, Historian and Corresponding Secretary Donna Zani
Dunkerton, and members: Pete & Betty Cummings, and Louise Kremzner.
The minutes of the February 26th meeting were reviewed and
approved.
TreasurerŐs report was read and accepted.
Correspondence: A letter
from Susan Pastore of Portland Maine offering to donate a youth bed was read
and the offer declined. A note was
received from the Newport Historical Society thanking us for the $25 donation
toward the preservation of the Piers Bridge.

Old Business: Canaan Fire Program: John outlined the program to be held Saturday,
June 2nd at 10 am beginning at the Senior Center. John will provide the introduction
followed by Ed Lary showing his slides of the fire. Jackie Lary will coordinate
a light lunch to follow-with a donation basket present. Then a walking tour of the area
affected by the fire will be offered.
John will ask Fire chief Bill Bellion to bring the old firetruck to the
Center. Publicity: Dan Fleetham, Jr. will provide fliers
to post in stores. Carol will see
that the Valley News and Spectator receive announcements for the calendar pages
and placement on the Town website, email &
postcards. John will oversee
arranging the chairs in the Senior Center. Dan will make sure the Center is reserved for the morning.
New
Business: It was decided to hold a meeting on August 27th, hopefully
of interest to summer residents.
