of Salisbury, N. H. deceased, who went to Winter Hill, Mass. in June, 1775
and returned in Dec. 1775, serving under Col. Stark;
Feb. 15, 1837 Abraham Fifield of Salisbury, N. H., 82 years of age, testified that immediately after the Battle of Bennington, the army was re-inforced by new troops and he had four brothers that came from Salisbury, one of them being Joseph Fifield "who was 12 or 15 years older than I;" that my brothers and myself, five in all, were attached to the army under Gen. Stark; marched to Bemis' Heights, joined the army under Gates; served two months and returned home together; that many years before the Revolution his brother Joseph married Anna Badger; and before the close of the Revolution their oldest son Sherburne Fifield served a term; that Anna Fifield was the only wife Joseph ever had and has never married since her husband's death. Abraham Fifield February 10, 1837 John Elliot of Concord, N. H., "in his 81st year," testified that he served 8 months in 1776 in same regiment with Joseph Fifield and also with his father-in-law Badger; that they all came home to New Hampshire together; that Fifield served part of the time under Capt. Webster and part under Capt. Emery; that Fifield had several children at the time; that in 1775 deponent was in Battle of Bunker Hill and soon afterwards Fifield joined Col. Stark's regiment as a volunteer. John Elliott. February 14, 1837 John Carter of Concord, N. H. testified to service in 1778 under Capt. Webster at Rhode Island with soldier. John Carter. February 16, 1837 Amos Pettengill of Salisbury, N. H. "in his 77th year" "having been a Deacon of the First Congregational Church in Salisbury more than 40 years, testified that he moved with his father to Salisbury, sixty years ago this month of Feb.; that Joseph Fifield and his family were then settled here, some of their children being older than deponent; that the oldest, Sherburne Fifield, served a term in the Revolution; that Joseph Fifield was always considered to have served as a Revolutionary soldier in 1775, 76, 77, and 78; that Anna has remained a widow, etc. Amos Pettengill. February 14, 1837 1837 Samuel Davis of Concord, N. H., testified to service in 1778 with soldier under Capt. Webster. Samuel Davis. February 16, 1837 Jonathon Fifield of Salisbury, N. H., 52 years of age, testified that he is the youngest son of Joseph and Anna (Badger) Fifield; that he was the Executor of his father, Joseph's, will; and since his father's death September 29, 1813, his mother has always lived with him; that his brother, Sherburne, if living, would be about 76 years old. Jona. Fifield February 16, 1837 Joel Eastman of Salisbury, N. H., 76 years of age, testified that he had lived in Salisbury since he was thirteen years old; remembers that Joseph Fifield went to White Plains, New York with his, deponent's father, Edward Eastman; that he went several other times etc. Joel Eastman February 15, 1837 William Cate of Salisbury, N. H., 63 years of age, testified that he has lived in Salisbury about 47 years; knows Anna Fifield has never remarried since her husband's death etc. William Cate. February 15, 1837, Levi Morrill of Salisbury, N. H., 72 years of age, testified that he had lived in Salisbury about 42 years; knows Anna Fifield has remained a widow etc. Levi Morrill.
