Revolutionary War Pension Application It is available at the New Hampshire Historical Society. Samuel McGuin is listed in the 1840 Salisbury, NH census - 104 years old. S45001
August 17, 1819 Samuel McGuin of Grafton County, New Hampshire, seventy-eight years of age, deposed: that he enlisted in the summer of 1776 under Capt. Cole, Col. Dean, Massachusetts Line for three months; served out his term; that he reenlisted for six months and served out his time; that in March or April 1779 he enlisted under Capt. Samuel Cherry, Col. George Reid, New Hampshire Line for nine months; "marched under Gen. Sullivan to the Susquehannah for the destruction of the Indians"; served out his term and was discharged in January, 1780; that "he, being a foreigner, has no knowledge of any person who served in said Corps with him." Pension suspended, awaiting further proof.

June 13, 1822 Samuel McGuin of Andover, N. H. eighty years of age, testified that he has, in his family, a wife, fifty-nine years of age (no name mentioned) and files a certificate from the Selectmen of Andover, N. H. - Samuel Brown and Jacob Eastman - that, he is in need of a pension. Claim allowed and certificate 18708, New Hampshire Agency, was issued July 18, 1822, Acts of March 18, 1818 and May 1, 1820. (In the list of Persons residing in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, who have been inscribed on the Pension list under the Act of Congress passed March 18, 1818, as recorded in New Hampshire State Papers, Volume XXX on page 278, occurs the name: Samuel Magoon. This is an error. It should be McGuin, and is so given in List of 1835, and also in the Agency Book in the Pension Office. (There is no Revolutionary Pensioner, named Samuel Magoon, on file. B. M.
