The History of Merrimack and Belknap Counties, New Hampshire Edited by D. Lieut. Abner Clough came from the Epping, New Hampshire, and settled
first in Canterbury. He married Sally, daughter of Levitt Clough, of that
town, and had a family of three sons, named Levitt, Abner and Jeremiah.
Lieut. Abner soon afterward exchanged land and with the Shakers, who then
owned the land upon Clough's Hill, where Mr. Clough's descendants now
reside. The Shakers located first in Loudon, and held meetings upon this
Hill, they being few in numbers at that time. Return to Merrimack Co., NH, click here |
