Lieut. Abner Clough came from the Epping, New Hampshire, and settled first in Canterbury. He married Sally, daughter of Levitt Clough, of that town, and had a family of three sons, named Levitt, Abner and Jeremiah. Lieut. Abner soon afterward exchanged land and with the Shakers, who then owned the land upon Clough's Hill, where Mr. Clough's descendants now reside. The Shakers located first in Loudon, and held meetings upon this Hill, they being few in numbers at that time.
Levitt Clough married Hannah Sargent and had three children, named Levitt, Jr., David S. and Sally.
Abner Clough married Sarah Haselton, and had three children, named Lucy, Abiel H. and Jeremiah A.
Jeremiah Clough married Polly Hook and had one daughter, named Adeline. He married the second time and had no children.
